Summary/Abstract: The daughter-in-law of Přemysl Šámal, the Head of Office of President Masaryk, was imprisoned during the war in the Ravensbrück concentration camp. Her husband, the zoologist Jaromír Šámal, was executed by the Nazis for being a member of the resistance, and their children were given up for adoption by a German family. The story reached its peak after the war, when many people took great effort to trace them.
