Summary/Abstract: The sixty years of the People’s Republic of China has been a period of marked evolution of the country’s foreign policy, reflecting a search for effective means to regain the position of power, the main objective of Chinese diplomacy. China has been gradually ratcheting up its international activity, which is now guided by pragmatism, with ideology pushed to the margins. This line is going to be continued by the next leadership who will take over at China’s helm in 2012 and 2013.
