THE RESTORATION OF A PARCHMENT MEDIEVAL DIPLOMAS COLLECTION FROM UNION NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ALBA IULIA

Summary/Abstract: The parchment and the vellum are writting materials, made from animal lether, which are very sensitive to the temperature and humidity variations. This paper work presents the restoration of a parchment medieval diplomas collection, written with ferogalique ink and adorned with mineral and vegetal pigments. During the restoration process, the colours were tested, the material has been rehidrated and reemolieted, and also consolidated, the seals had been cleaned, the misses spaces had been filled in, and finally, the document had been pressed and treated to get in this shape.
