Summary/Abstract: The article aims to present trends in the global economy two years after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. It argues that despite positive growth rates, the current economic recovery is incomplete and uneven. This incompleteness and unevenness of economic recovery relate to the global economy as a whole, to its regions, and to individual countries. The article opens with an overview of the current economic situation with forecasts for its further development and a review of selected macroeconomic indicators. The subsequent parts of the study present the impact of the pandemic on world trade and global economic integration, effects of new COVID-19 variants on global trade governance, unstable situation in international financial markets as well as a shift in global financial governance towards greater fairness and sustainability. The article also indicates that the pandemic might mark the beginning of a lost decade for sustainable development. The article concludes with an assessment of the economic situation in the first months of 2022, characterized by a two-speed economic recovery, with developing countries lagging behind the more developed economies. During the year 2022, only advanced economies and a few emerging markets are likely to return to pre-pandemic growth trends, while the situation in the Global South will continue to deteriorate.
