Summary/Abstract: US withdrawal from Afghanistan was a logistical success but a strategic failure. It was also an apt summary of the United States’ two-decades-long strategic engagement in the Middle East and Afghanistan. The strategic conclusions of that move should be based upon careful and thorough audit of specific steps at US and NATO politico-military arena implications. They will contribute to, inter alia, the creation of some welcome exit strategies upon starting new operations. Public perception is crucial nowadays but it cannot overshadow the real goals of the mission. Russia and China benefit globally from the failure, as the internal stability of the US is key for NATO stability.
