A Supposition about the Location of the Mediaeval Ktenia

Summary/Abstract: The announcement pays an attention to the well-known from the end of 13th and beginning of 14th c. mediaeval fortress Ktenia. Its role in the Bulgaro-Byzantine relations in this period is underlined. The source records about Ktenia are examined and the opinion of the research workers, seeking its location are analysed. On the basis of a careful acquaintance with the written sources, connection of the description of the fortress with the natural landscape in the North-Eastern Thrace, as well as the results from the archaeological terrain research work, the author identifies Ktenia with the fortress near by the today’s village Kozare, in the Karnobat district.
