Summary/Abstract: The article presents twentieth-century Polish philosophical discussions of rationality, especially in the cognitive context. Discussed are diverse viewpoints, from those presented by Kazimierz Twardowski, the Lvov–Warsaw School founded by him to those of post-war thinkers: Leszek Kołakowski and Marian Przełęcki. In the second part, three systematic issues concerning the rationality of beliefs are discussed and analyzed: the problem of their binary nature, rationality criteria, and the issue of justifying the choice of rationality.
