Summary/Abstract: In 1359 in Tarnovo was held a synod which examined the question of deprecation of the jews. Despite the fact that the synod is well-known in the ecclesiastic, as well as in the civil history of Bulgaria, the only source of it is the biography of Teodosij Tarnovski, written by the oecumenical patriarch Calistos I (1350–1353 and 1355–1364). Calistos has devoted three whole chapters from the biography to the description of the synod. Since some research workers dispute the authenticity of the greater part of the reports, and another support only some parts of them, the aim of the author is to examine the question about the reliability of the accounts and the authenticity of the biography of Teodosij Tarnovski. In the present paper the author dwells only on the question about the structure of the Tarnovo Synod from 1359.
