Summary/Abstract: Discussion of the knowledge that is created through human cognitive efforts in different periods of history proceeds has a varying intensity. In the second half of the twentieth century, when it was announced that mankind had entered the age of knowledge society, reflection on its condition requires special attention. In order to meet this challenge, the article seeks to answer two basic questions: a) What knowledge currently enjoys the greatest social recognition? b) What are the parameters of such knowledge that put it in a dominant position among other forms? When attempting to answer these questions, the author does not try to idealize the intellectual product considered to be the most valuable, but also points to its weaker sides, confronting the facts with the expectations placed upon it.
