Summary/Abstract: In contrast to the influences of the French and Italian language, the influence of the English language is a relatively new phenomenon. However, after World War 2, due to known circumstances, there has been a significant increase in the influence which has not been interrupted to this day. The theoretical part elaborates on the development of the German language and the concept of words that have been borrowed, as well as their integration into the language. The practical part analyses and specializes in some Anglo-Americanisms in the aspect of their use in newspapers in their respective time period. In this paper, the influence of borrowed words from the English language into the German will be shown through concrete examples. Despite being influenced a lot by English language, the German language still maintains its originality and nowadays is one of the most important languages in the world.
