Summary/Abstract: The Scythian ideology grew from two sources: the sophiology of Vladimir Solovyov, adapted by Alexander Blok to the revolutionary standard of the “anti-Christian apocalypse”, and the ideas of Razumnik Ivanov-Razumnik, who relied on the opinions of the Westernisers Pyotr Chaadaev and Alexander Herzen. For Blok, Scythianism became a form of expression of his anti-Christian, Nietzschean ideas, which had matured for a long time under cover of his sophiology. The revolution allowed him to express them openly and attract the attention of the founder of the Scythian literary movement. Blok’s radicalism made it possible to include Scythianism in the party life of the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries, giving the movement a new character and new guidelines associated with the world revolution in a non-Bolshevik manner.
