Summary/Abstract: Peter Damian is ranked among the most prominent figures of the Church of the 11th century because he contributed to her renewal. Theology deeply rooted in Tradition but also open to new challenges became one of the essential elements of this renewal. In his theology, there is a number of issues which refer to the figure of Mary, mother of God, Her mission and Marian devotion as well. This devotion, in particular, proved to be extremely influential in terms of spiritual renewal and by the same token it became fact that taking Mariology and Marian devotion into consideration should always constitute an indispensable element of the process of Church renewal in every epoch. Therefore, this paper is an attempt to present Mariology and Marian devotion in Sant Peter Damian’s writings.
