Summary/Abstract: The main aim of this publication is to provide knowledge to the researchers in the field of philology about the advantages of applying adopted by the International Organizations – and approved by local official organizations – Standards of transliteration. In this work would address concrete the aspect, concerning transliteration of the Bulgarian language. The object of this report is the Standard BDS ISO 9: 2001 Information and documentation. Transliteration of Cyrillic characters into Latin characters. Slavic and non-Slavic languages. The application of this Standard would not be able to guarantee the absolute language identity neither the general unification of the transliterated languages. BDS ISO 9: 2001 is providing a certain quality guarantee of the communication process and stable information transfer.
