Summary/Abstract: On the occasion of the passing last year of the 80th anniversary of the martyrdom of Fr Antoni Korczok (5 February 1941), which he suffered for his faith in the concentration camp in Dachau, the “Year of Fr Antoni Korczok” was celebrated both in Gliwice and in the Gliwice diocese. During the meetings organised, including an international conference on 2nd October 2021, the story of his saintly life and the circumstances of his martyrdom were once again recalled. On this occasion, local historians took another look at the person of the pre-war parish priest from Gliwice-Sośnica, trying to solve the complexities of his life story. In this way, thanks to the archival search and on the basis of interviews with surviving witnesses, they were able to obtain new information about the person of the World War II martyrdom, especially on the question of his alleged political involvement and his activity on behalf of the Polish-speaking pastoral ministry in the prewar German Upper Silesia.
