Summary/Abstract: The effectiveness of the various activities depends to a large extent on their provision – financial, personnel, material-technical, etc. For activities outside the sphere of material production, such as operative-investigative activity (OIA), the information provision is of particular importance. The essence of the OIA, and in particular the documenting that is carried out through it, is such that its practical implementation is impossible without this kind of provision. It is done through the use of different information systems. For this purpose, the Ministry of the Interior has created a complex information system containing multiple subsystems to provide the information needed to solve the tasks of the OIA. Operation and maintenance of this system require specific knowledge in the field of information technology, as well as basic knowledge in the field of the theory of the OIA. Therefore, information provision for documenting in the OIA has become a specific type of work activity, mainly regulated by secondary legislation. This article will briefly discuss the essence of information provision and its purpose.
