Summary/Abstract: The aim of the present paper is to analyse and illustrate a number of sources of difficulty current in the Romanian vocabulary of science and technology. Such ‘pitfalls’ as the plural or gender form of certain nouns, the conjugation of certain verbs, the existence of a number of semantic-functional variants, paronymy, folk etymology and latent folk etymology, analogy and hypercorrection are treated, most of them supported by the ad-hoc assessment of their recording by the current dictionaries of Romanian. Special attention is also paid to some relevant semantic improprieties, including pleonasm.
