Summary/Abstract: Contemporary international turbulence has created a wide range of uncertainty and launched the concept of societal resilience, as a possibility to deal with the turbulences and tectonic changes of the international relations and global security. But how do we measure and how do we enforce the resilience stay remains an important issue for researchers. Therefore we tried to enter into the depth of the resilience studies and approaches and use what we have in hand as studies in sociology, history of conflicts and economic turbulences, geopolitical capability of the states and specially societal security. The paper emphasizes also the main points of a RAND Corporation study on the societal foundation of nations competitiveness as a mean to identify criteria and indicators for societal resilience.
