Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study was show the dynamics of changes in the Italian party system after the end of World War II, with particular amphasis on the key period in this respect, which was the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. Most of the aforementioned changes were a consequence of the existence ang fall of the fascist regime, the role of great world powers in creating the post-war map of Europe and the world, as well as political parties operating in the Apennine Peninsula, whose origins largely date back to the pre-fascist era. The Christian Democrats played a dominant role in governance after World War II, but each time they were forced by a coalition parliamentary majority with other groups, often distant in terms of programs. The relative stabilization of the Italian party system took place in the early 1950s.
