Summary/Abstract: The restructuring of the elements inspired by the romantic imaginary is perhaps one of the main reasons why Tim Burton is often included in the postmodernist dimension of cinema in the last decades of the twentieth century. This paper tries to capture some aspects specific to the Edward Scissorhands (1990) feature, without claiming to be an exhaustive study. In this short hermeneutic analysis, we will depict some details related to the cultural influences that directly or indirectly contributed to the realization of the monstrous character Edward endowed with the attributes of romantic genius.
