Tertium comparationis for contrasting metaphorical terms with their equivalents

Summary/Abstract: The common special referent of source language metaphorical terms and their target language translation equivalents is proposed as convenient tertium comparationis for contrastive analysis of these terminological items. The special referent is determined as a partially conceptualised unnamed special reference concept which can serve as a basis for interlingual comparison within a combined experientialist-terminological approach to terminological metaphorisation. The tertium comparationis thus defined for the particular object of investigation is a solid foundation to construct a proper model for contrasting metaphorical terms with their equivalents.
