Summary/Abstract: Traditionally, university study programs are completed with exams and research papers developed individually, supported publicly, in the presence of a committee. The way of organization and the content of this final test meet the objective of integrating the knowledge obtained within the program. Despite a long tradition, this modality does not sufficiently cover the future professional commitment of students. Capstone courses represent a culminating experience with two perspectives: one focused on consolidating and integrating what had been learned; the other prepares the way for a successful professional initiation into the field of the university program. In this study we describe the way to complete university study programs through "capstone" experiences and discuss the opportunity of adopting this model in local university curricula.
