Extent and profile of poverty in Slovakia since 1990s

Summary/Abstract: The contribution deals with extent of poverty and its characteristic signs (so-called poverty profile) since 1990s until this day. It is based on the analysis of available data. The main aim of the study is identification of trends and tendencies from the point of view of extent and profile of poverty. It focuses on the increase of income disparity and detects increasing rate of destitute people in Slovak Republic taking into consideration various poverty limits. The contribution offers a view on the poverty profile as well as on the characteristic signs of poverty. It identifies the factors indicating higher risk of poverty increase during the mentioned period.
