Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to present mechanisms of linguistic intuition in the context of the current processing of language data. The description addresses the ‘mind in action,’ which is obliged to make quick and adequate language decisions. The article refers to A. Baddeley’s model of working memory (2012) and to the fourfold limited mind model proposed by C.S. Nosal (2008). Showing mechanisms of linguistic intuition, the article presents their role in linguistic activities when the user acts effectively, i.e. based on clear and comprehensible language models/schemas that build up his/her language competence and when he/she experience difficulties due to language deficits. The article proposes a typology of linguistic intuition and presents some data from the empirical study on intuition among learners of French as a foreign language.
