Summary/Abstract: In 1982, Lili Monori and Miklós B. Székely handed in a request to use the basement of Szentkirályi street 4 in order to practice ‘acting as an art form with its own language.’ At first, they rehearsed and experimented in the basement, later they invited in an audience, and held performances. The effects of Monori’s and B. Székely’s acting, their concept of acting and playing are still noticeable in 2021, in the practices they passed onto their colleagues. Therefore, I will examine their theatrical thinking through three performances they created within the Szentkirályi Workshop: the ones titled Operation (1990), Matinee (1996) and M.II.6. (1999.)
