Summary/Abstract: My purpose in this paper is to follow how the personal and the universal may be introduced to the same space, and how this simultaneous existence, how these sources of information strengthen one another. I find it crucial to start with the personal aspect, and the most tangible form of this is the diary. The diary is the form that survives, that does not smooth negatives over from a distance, that reacts immediately, that is not subject to control, or more accurately, it is only subject to the control imposed by the diarist themselves.
