Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the vocative singular of male surnames. This topic is not given much space in grammar books, although due to the diversity of vocative endings, speakers may find themselves in doubt about which vocative form to use. The paper gives a detailed overview of how normative manuals deal with this topic and presents the results of a comprehensive study of the use of vocative endings among the speakers of the Croatian language.
