Summary/Abstract: This article reflects on the reality and concept of mercy as experienced and understood by Saint Teresa of Avila. At the same time, one wants to see how relevant and challenging her experiences and reflections are for today's theology. In the first part, an attempt is made to show the actuality of mercy as a theological topic and, in this sense, to think systematically and theologically about the mercy of Saint Teresa. It will be shown that mercy is not only a big topic but also the starting point of Teresa's theology. The second part reflects on the relationship between mercy and salvation. The crucial meaning of God's mercy for man can best be understood from this relationship. The topic of the possibility of eternal destruction will also be thematized there, and incentives for theology will be offered through the presentation of some of Teresa's thoughts. In the third part, it is shown that according to Saint Teresa's understanding, charity is a constant of spiritual life, a reality that accompanies the entire spiritual growth.
