Summary/Abstract: The mary challeges that climate change poses to maritime law and its protagonists (international community, States, maritime companies) can be divided into two objectives: trying to limit climate change and trying to adapt to it. The first objective involves controlling polluting emissions and changing the behaviour of maritime contractors. To reach the second objective, maritime law is confronted with several consequences of climate change: rising sea levels, diminishing polar ice, warmer seas and an increased risk of storms.
