Summary/Abstract: One of the key features of the knowledge-based economy, which can be derived from the term-analysis – is the knowledge boost while creating socio-economical processes. One can encounter strong linkages between economy and science within the knowledge-based economy. And the technology remains there a pivotal factor. The socio-economical situation, within which we are operating since the beginning of 2020, strongly confirms that without the mutual cooperation among knowledge, technology and economy the current results, such as: Covid-19 vaccines or first announcements on the medicines that can combat the SARS-CoV-2 wouldn’t be achievable. Since many years m-RNA vaccine was developed. The SARS-CoV-2 virus and the cooperation, which scope was not seen up-till-now, between researchers from different research centres united in achieving a common goal and moreover supported with public funds boosted the progress and shed the light within the tunnel. The modes of functioning of the biotechnology sector within the dramatically changing environment was presented in the article.
