Summary/Abstract: The following article undertakes the attempt to present the history of painted folk furniture, simultaneously giving a brief description of the collection of furniture belonging to the Museum “Upper Silesian Ethnographic Park in Chorzów”. Additionally the author of the work tries to reconstruct the history of a painted wooden wardrobe from 1848, which came to the Museum in 2009. The most extensive part of the work focuses on the presentation of the history of discovery of the original polychrome and maintenance of the furniture. The completed works led to the restoration of the wardrobe’s lost values.
