Summary/Abstract: The article analyses Minutes from the meeting of the State Committee for the renovation of the Royal Castle and Royal Łazienki from 20 September 1935 and an abridged version of a graduation thesis written at the Post-Graduate Course in Warsaw Studies at the University of Warsaw. The structures and functioning of institutions dealing with the renovation of representative buildings in the interwar period are presented. In a short chronological order, selected renovations carried out in the Royal Castle at that time, known from the relevant literature, were shown, which made it possible to refer to them during the analysis of the Minutes. The text was found in 2018 and is a source of information about the specific nature of the work and the nature of the activities of the committee and the works manager - Adolf SzyszkoBohusz. The Minutes allow to reconstruct to some extent the schedule of meetings, the topics addressed and the problems solved, e.g. the garden in the lower section, the outward appearance of the Grodzka Tower, the extension of the wing of the Copper-Roof Palace. Thanks to the analysis of the document, it is also possible to determine more precisely the dates of individual renovations. The commitment with which the renovation of the Royal Castle in Warsaw was approached proves that it was considered to be the most important monument in Poland at that time, second only to the Wawel Castle. Both buildings were treated as monuments to the past of the nation and the state, and thus a symbol of the independence and splendour of the Republic of Poland. The Warsaw Castle was important not only as the historical seat of Polish kings, but also as the present seat of the President of the Republic of Poland.
