Summary/Abstract: The article’s introduction chapter presents the damage prevention and conditions of oil prints storaged in the Opole Open-Air Museum of Rural Architecture. Because of the mixed methods of color oil print making and the type of its framing, various methods and preservatives are used. The object is treated individually depending on the type of substrate, protection of a print surface, the degree of destruction and forms of the image. The rich compositions in which an oil print is a part of a whole, require comprehensive preservation activities. Such objects are images of saints with dress ornaments so called: “Harp paintings” or images including plaster casts. All the decorative elements made of paper, metal, fabrics, painted or gilded are renovated too. The given examples of conservation treatment are based on the specific examples of several objects with different levels and types of damage. The methods and means for gluing, surface cleaning, layers consolidation, reconstructing missing pieces and securing the face of oil prints have been detailed.
