Summary/Abstract: Louise Marie drew up a number of different versions of her last will and testament. She left substantial bequests mainly for the French serving at the court. Her last wills and testaments show that the representatives of no other nation deserved more in the eyes of the queen and none were endowed with bequests, although representatives of other nations, notably Poles, Italians or Scots, are known to have been her servants. Notes on the expenses allocated to the court after the monarch’s death were kept by the queen’s secretary Pierre Des Noyers, possibly on the order of John Casimir or at the request of the Prince of Condé, whose daughter-inlaw was an heiress of Louise Marie. These records are not accurate enough to determine how many people from the queen’s circle actually received their due payments or what debts remained after her death. The notes do show, however, that the court was not dissolved until the queen’s funeral, which took place six months after her death. They also provide general information about some of the expenses related to the operation of the queen’s court during the last years of her life and after her death.
