Summary/Abstract: Education, and the question of the education of minorities in Bulgaria, has gained popularity recently in the nation’s political discourse. Education became a governmental priority in 2005, partly because it had been a neglected sphere during the transitional period which began after 1989. The economic and institutional restructuring and its problems occupied the minds of political leaders, while educational reforms and issues were pushed to the periphery of the political discourse and were frequently approached by means of non-systematic measures.
