Summary/Abstract: Tautological word groups are those which have invariable grammatical structure (like idioms) but variable lexical content. They are like formulae, which each time have different lexical items in them. The key feature of the word groups is the repetition of the same words (same or different forms) or the same root, much more seldom – different words (the forms are same). The majority of tautological word groups are used in everyday spoken language. If used appropriately, they, like phraseological units, could enrich the general language and give it more ways of expression.
