Summary/Abstract: Teleki believed in the possibility of creating a bourgeois Hungary, he was committed to national culture, and as the first president of the Academy and a passionate bibliophile he did much for the development of Hungarian culture. He was in tune with the spirit of the times, recognised the task imposed on him by history and undertook to carry it out.
