The role of statistics in crime prventions (An attempt at criminological analysis)

Summary/Abstract: Statistics is the science of working with a database for the purpose of certain studies. The National Statistical Institute is engaged in the preparation of tables examining the regularities in the investigation and detection of crime in Bulgaria. Statistics is directly related to the public and social side of criminology and it plays an important role in crime prevention. This study deals with typical criminal activity (by perpetrators, victims, statistical regions, by type of crime or type of conviction), its development over time, the data obtained in a certain temporal period and with the help of statistics, the authors make an attempt at a criminological analysis, related to the prevention of crime.
