Summary/Abstract: This article presents the principles, rules and main elements that constitute the centralized resolution mechanism for credit institutions in the Banking Union. The legal aspects are discussed from the perspective of the participating Member States and the most important challenges that National Resolution Authorities are facing in the course of close cooperation for the purposes of the resolution of failing banks.
