Summary/Abstract: The article aims at presentation of Acquinas’s methodology in the understanding of the law of nature as the source of law in the hierarchy of the sources of law. In contradistincion to Augustinian theory, Acquinas dynamized the law of nature by formulating the theory of „the law of variable content” which dynamized all the orders of written law. As a result, Acquinas arrived at the so called „Christian personalism” including the theory of „fair work and fairpayment”. The principles, rooted in the social problems of the 19th century were taken over by Leo XIII in Rerum Novarum and then by John Paul II in his encyclical Laborem excersens which sought the answers to the challenges of the 20th and 21st centuries. In general, papal encyclicas as well as Christian personalism indicate the vaildity of Acquinas’s methodology of natural law.
