Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the place names found in the salaca livonian materials recorded in the 17th–19th centuries. The material analysed contains 22 settlement names, including 3 island names, 4 river names, and 14 ethnonyms and some country names derived from the latter. some of the place names are of livonian origin, while some others have obviously been borrowed from Estonian, latvian or German, thus being indicative of the historical language and cultural contacts of salaca livonians. although the names are hardly abundant in number, they provide a welcome addition to the source materials used by the researchers of the language and settlement history of livonia and southern Finnic areas, as well as of latvian place names.
