Summary/Abstract: The article is intended to answer the question whether and how Catholic Church, as one of the bodies of social policy, is involved in the tasks of social security system in Poland. To get the answer the authoress presents the social activity of Catholic Church in theory and in practice. She attempts to present the main direction of catholic teaching referred to the social activity and points out the tasks of the bodies appointed to implement it. Afterwards the authoress attempts to analyze the activity of the Church in the social field by presenting examples of actions of Caritas, religious congregations and parish charitable organizations. In the conclusion she evaluates the significance of Catholic Church in the implementation of policy towards poverty as the most important social risk in the social security system.
