Summary/Abstract: Clara Josephine Schumann (born Wieck) a distinct personality of the 19th century, was one of the most brilliant pianists of the time. The wife of one of the most famous composers and pianists of the time, Robert Schumann, her name has always been associated with it. In the eyes of society, she primarily played the role of wife and mother, and her qualities as a musician were less relevant However, Clara was a prolific composer, a renowned teacher, a valuable music critic and impresario. This remarkable talent of her was overshadowed by the simple 'guilt' of being born a woman. Music, the piano in this case will be the landmark of the education, this being due exclusively to Mr. Friedrich Wiek, Clara's father, the only piano teacher she ever had. Mr. Wieck was one of the most renowned pedagogues in Europe, which is also the reason why he put high hopes in his talent and skill as a pedagogue. Clara's piano debut took place in Leipzig, Gewandhaus, on October 20, 1828, at the age of nine. Later, during adulthood, Clara's piano playing was both dramatic and poetic. Her touch was fine but also full, intense. She played with deep feeling but also with a lot of discernment and a critical sense: "Distinctly", Liszt exclaimed, listening to her! Clara Schumann's compositional activity is a rich one for the piano repertoire and for the vocal one. After Hildegard von Bingen, Clara Schumann managed to establish herself as the only female composer of international renown. There were other contemporary female musical personalities such as Fanny Mendelssohn and Pauline Viardot who still failed to establish themselves internationally, having only a national recognition. The first national homage to the personality of Clara Schumann from the German state was the fact that she printed her face on the 100 DM banknote in 1996. Also as a sign of recognition and homage, the British pianist Lucy Perham was the first performer of the integral piano works. Clara Schumann's personality, talent and brilliance are now beginning to surface and regain their well-deserved status.
