Summary/Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic and associated with it lockdown may have affected women and men differently. The purpose of the study is to describe the system of demographic, social and economic losses from the pandemic, which potentially have a gender perspective. To confirm the gender unequal consequences of the pandemic, statistical data (UN statistics, data from the Federal State Statistics Service, sample surveys, SPARK databases, qualitative data), secondary sources (scientific articles) were used. The article uses statistical methods, cases, expert assessments. Main results: 1) a system of potential demographic, social, economic consequences of the pandemic in terms of gender gaps has been developed; 2) some real gender consequences in the demographic and economic sphere have been identified, of which the most detailed are gender gaps in excess mortality, the risks of losing a business, etc., on the example of Russia and other countries; 3) the hypothesis that most outcomes do not have a predetermined gender gap was proved. In different countries, the population has experienced different depth and design of gender consequences (the state of affairs the day before, institutions and policies are of great importance in any gender issue); 4) some Russian peculiarities in the gender consequences of the pandemic have been identified. It is concluded that the current relatively weak impact of the crisis on the growth of the gender gap in the position of women and men in the labor market and in business and a significant impact on the growth of care for women in Russia. A distinctive feature of Russia is the more significant female excess mortality than male excess mortality.
