Summary/Abstract: In 1810, based on the decision of Prussian authorities, the monastery in Jemielnica was subject to reduction. Shortly after the secularization of the monastery, the documents kept there were transferred to an archive in Wrocław. In 1859, Wilhelm Wattenbach published them in the second volume of "Codex diplomaticus Silesiae". Based on old inventory, he noticed the lack of several diplomas, which were formerly stored in Jemielnica. One of them was a diploma by duke Albert from 1328, which in Wattenbach’s edition is known only from a brief mention. Friedrich von Schirnding compiled a more extensive register, but his work is not utilized by historians. Another researcher who knew the aforementioned document was Augustin Weltzel. Both von Schirnding and Weltzel used from the chronicle by Jucundinus Pientak, parish priest of Jemielnica, who translated into German some of the documents, including the diploma from 1328. Because in newer works contents of this source are cited mainly as cited in laconic Wattenbach’s edition, an edition based on Pientak’s translation was prepared. The abovementioned document should bea valuable source for genealogists and researchers in the field of diplomatics.
