Summary/Abstract: Joe Biden's international policy goal as the 46th President of the United States is to rebuild its position as the sole global superpower. This means concentration of US international activity on limiting economic and political expansion and militarization of China. In this conception, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization is to be an instrument that allows stabilizing the situation in Europe, also resulting from the clash of American interests with China and Russia. Its effective actions should allow the U.S. to concentrate its activity on the areas where its interests are located, especially in the western and central parts of the Indo Pacific area. The Russian aggression against Ukraine forced the U.S. administration to revise this concept and to return to the role of a leader of the Alliance, involved not only in the creation but also in the implementation of a policy of containment of Russia in eastern Europe, on NATO's so-called eastern flank. Political realities indicate that the United States will not only have to take on this role, but also accept the necessity of this longer term engagement and the probable use of military capabilities to play it. The area of particular political and military engagement will not be the Black, but rather the Baltic Sea basin.
