Summary/Abstract: Georgia has over 525 indigenous grape varieties,which is roughly 1/6th of the world’s total grapespecies. Approximately 40 varieties are officially grownfor commercial viticulture production. While Georgianwine has been known locally for centuries, its globalconsumption is a relatively recent phenomenon.
