Summary/Abstract: This study analyzes the development of intelligence and cognition as a continuous and consistent process which is established experimentally by Jean Piaget within the sensorimotor stage child’s development (from 0 to 1.6–2 years of age). The short theoretical and methodological formulation of the problem and bio-bibliographic reference is followed by a separate analysis and characterization of each of the 6 substages/phases of sensorimotor cognition. Data on the process of child’s structuring and constructing the object, space, causality and time as important categories of the surrounding reality are presented. Finally, the study is intended primarily for students and thus ends with a summary of the main achievements and the most important features of this stage, which are summed up in two tables (in the Appendix).
