Summary/Abstract: The just concluded 19th World Economic History Congress (WEHC) would perhaps be just another in a series of these congresses, at most with a few characteristic features that each similar event has carried with it into history. It would only apply now if it wasn't for the pandemic and the whole event being postponed by a year because of it. In such a situation, when, in addition, another pandemic wave is knocking on the door, such a large congress is, indeed must be, in many ways completely different from all those before it. In this report, I will reflect on the aforementioned particularities and on the extent to which fundamental congressional changes will have a permanent character.
