Summary/Abstract: This article aims to give an overview of the problems of the applicability and reliability of the different methods and stages of the selection processes and procedures used in the European institutions. For this purpose, a total of 90 interviews were conducted in 2011, primarily within three Dgs within the Commission (Dg Environment, Dg Regional Policy, and Dg Internal Market and Services), as well as within Dg Personnel and Administration and EPSO. The main aspects which were observed were the background and the purposes of the competitions as well as their respective results.
