Summary/Abstract: Rich in form, the ceremonial folk costume was formerly the proper garment for a non-ordinary time (a holiday). Visually, it articulated the solemnity of the feast day, which was usually imbued with an element of the sacrum (celebrations in small local communities closely reflected the order of the liturgical year). Nowadays, this costume (in the Rozbark type) is still used by the inhabitants of Upper Silesia during the celebration of major church holidays. The constant presence in the socio-cultural space of various forms of this outfit prompted the author to try to present the values connoted by it in the context of the celebration of Corpus Christi, one of the most important holidays in the Catholic Church, as well as to compare the importance of these meanings in the traditional (historical) and present context.
